CONFIGURATION FOR BANYAN AND THE IBM PCMCIA 16/4 TOKEN RING CARD THE FOLLOWING IS A TESTED CONFIGURATION FOR THE IBM PCMCIA 16/4 TOKEN RING CARD IN THE AERO / ELITE. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW TO CONFIGURE THE CARD TO WORK IN THE LISTED ENVIRONMENT. STEP 1) EDIT THE CONFIG.SYS AND ADD /IRQ A TO THE CS.EXE LINE IN THE CONFIG.SYS AS SHOWN IN THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE OF A WORKING CONFIG.SYS. STEP 2) CHANGE DIRECTORY TO THE CPQDOS DIRECTORY AND USE THE PCCARD UTILITY TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT SETTING FOR THE RESOURCES OF THE IBM PCMCIA CARD AND SET AS FOLLOWS. TYPE PCCARD (THIS WILL START THE CARD SOFT CONFIGURATION UTILITY). FROM THE CPQDOS SUB-DIRECTORY. PRESS ENTER ONE TIME TO BYPASS THE WELCOME DIALOG BOX. THEN PRESS THE "ALT F" KEYS TO OPEN THE FILE MENU OF CARD CONFIGURATION AND CHOOSE "EDIT CONFIGURATION". THIS WILL OPEN THE EDIT CONFIGURATION DIALOG BOX. THEN PRESS THE "ALT N" KEYS TO ENTER THE NETWORK CARD INFORMATION. CHANGE THE DEFAULT PORT ADDRESS FROM 300 TO A20. THEN PRESS THE "TAB" KEY TO CHANGE FIELDS TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT IRQ FROM 5 TO 2. THEN PRESS THE TAB KEY AGAIN TO CHANGE FIELDS TO THE MEMORY 1 FIELD AND CHANGE THE DEFAULT ADDRESS TO D000 THEN PRESS THE TAB KEY AGAIN TO CHANGE THE MEMORY 2 FIELD AND CHANGE THE DEFAULT ADDRESS TO D800. THEN PRESS THE TAB KEY AGAIN TO CHANGE TO THE FAST TOKEN RING SPEED (16MB/S) FIELD AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE RING SPEED. AN X IN THE FIELD ENABLES 16MB/S AND NO X IN THE FIELD INDICATES 4MB/S. ONCE THE CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE PRESS ENTER TO EXIT THE NETWORK CARD INFORMATION. THEN PRESS THE ENTER KEY TO EXIT THE EDIT CONFIGURATION DIALOG BOX. THEN PRESS THE "ALT F" KEYS TO OPEN THE FILE MENU AND CHOOSE THE SAVE OPTION. ONCE SAVED PRESS THE "ALT F" KEYS TO REOPEN THE FILE MENU AND CHOOSE EXIT TO EXIT THE UTILITY COMPLETELY. STEP 3) TYPE PCCARD /ALL FROM THE CPQDOS SUB-DIRECTORY. THIS WILL RE-LAUNCH THE CARDSOFT CONFIGURATION UTILITY IN AN ALTERNATE MANNER. FROM THE CONFIGURATION UTILITY MAIN WINDOW PRESS THE "ALT U" KEYS. THIS WILL OPEN THE UTILITY WINDOW. FROM THIS WINDOW CHOOSE THE BINARY ADAPTION OPTION. THIS WILL THEN OPEN THE BINARY ADAPTION DIALOG BOX. FROM THIS WINDOW PRESS THE "ALT O" KEYS. THIS WILL THEN OPEN THE OPEN DIALOG BOX WITH A LIST OF FILES. USING THE ARROW KEYS MOVE DOWN THE LIST OF FILES AND HIGHLIGHT THE CS.EXE FILE. ONCE THE FILENAME IS HIGHLIGHTED PRESS ENTER KEY TO OPEN THE CS.EXE FILE. THIS WILL ALSO OPEN THE CS PARAMETER LIST DIALOG BOX. ONCE IN THE PARAMETER LIST DIALOG BOX, USE THE ARROW KEYS TO MOVE DOWN THE LIST OF AVAILABLE PARAMETERS AND HIGHLIGHT THE CARD-CHANGE-STATUS IRQ. ONCE HIGHLIGHTED PRESS THE "ALT E" KEYS TO OPEN THE EDIT PARAMETER DIALOG BOX. THEN CHANGE THE DEFAULT TO 10. ONCE CHANGED, THEN PRESS ENTER TO GO BACK TO THE CS PARAMETER LIST DIALOG BOX. THEN PRESS ENTER AGAIN TO GET BACK TO THE BINARY ADAPTION DIALOG BOX. FROM THIS DIALOG BOX PRES THE "ALT S" KEYS TO SAVE THE CHANGES. THEN PRESS THE "ESC" KEY TO EXIT THE BINARY ADAPTION DIALOG BOX AND RETURN TO THE MAIN WINDOW OF CARDSOFT CONFIGURATION UTILITY. FROM THE MAIN WINDOW PRESS THE "ALT F" KEYS TO OPEN THE FILE MENU AND CHOOSE EXIT TO EXIT THE CONFIGURATION UTILITY. AT THIS POINT REBOOT THE MACHINE TO REFLECT THE NEW CONFIGURATION. *** NOTE *** ONCE THE CONFIGURATION CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE YOU WILL NEED TO EDIT YOUR CONFIGURATION FILES (i.e.. PROTOCOL.INI, IBMTOCS.NIF, ETC...) TO MATCH THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLES. ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT CHANGES MADE NEED TO BE MADE TO REFLECT OR SUPPORT YOUR PARTICULAR NETWORK ENVIRONMENT.
